The fasting lipid profile does not necessarily illustrate the dynamic features of lipid metabolism over a 24-hour period as human subjects are in the postprandial (PP) state for most of the day. PP triglyceride (TG) measurement in plasma has been reported to have advantages compared to fasting TG in terms of practicality and the ability to predict cardiovascular risk.1
