New dyslipidaemia guidelines drawn up by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) include updated recommendations for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk assessment in patients with elevated TG, and new guidance on the management of hypertriglyceridaemia (HTG). The guidelines – the first since 2018 – encourage earlier dyslipidaemia treatment in order to reduce lifelong risk of prolonged exposure to atherogenic lipoproteins.
