Professor Børge Nordestgaard presented data from the Copenhagen General Population Study showing that, although the remnant fraction (VLDL and TRLs) typically transports less cholesterol than the LDL fraction of plasma (25 mg/dL [0.6 mmol/L] vs 115 mg/dL [3 mmol/L]), nonetheless these two fractions of plasma cholesterol are associated with comparable increased MI risk.
