Latest data from clinical trials of novel triglyceride-lowering agents, presented at the European Atherosclerosis Society Congress 2026 (24-27 May, Athens, Greece) continued to build understanding of how these promising therapeutics can fit into current practice aimed at reducing overall risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease events and acute pancreatitis (AP). Evidence of low triglyceride testing rates in patients with AP underlined the importance of systematic triglyceride testing in routine care and around AP episodes in order to identify patients who may benefit from ongoing advances in treatment, even when their LDL-C levels are well controlled.
Read the reports:
- Olezarsen reduces acute pancreatitis in patients with highest TG levels
- Few patients with acute pancreatitis have TG levels measured
- Plozasiran pharmacodynamics unaffected by kidney or liver impairment
- Elevated TG linked to ASCVD even when LDL-C is well controlled
- Phase 1 data support AZD1705 as a novel ANGPTL3 inhibitor
- Real world support for novel TG lowering therapies for severe hypertriglyceridaemia
